TEOGROMITMM vs. Romeo and Juliet

Tillie's family from TEOGROMITMM and the Capulet family are both alike and different. One way they're alike is that Tillie and Juliet both have controlling parents. Tillie's mom won't let her go to school, and forces them to help with the new shop. Beatrice is like Juliet's parents. Juliet has to marry Paris, not Romeo, and go to the parties and events the Capulet's host. The parents in both families are in control and the kids do what they're told. Another way the families are alike is that they don't care very much about their children. In Tillie's family, Beatrice doesn't do what's best for Tillie or anything that will benefit her. Beatrice does what she wants, and nothing good for Tillie. This is a lot like the Capulet family, where they don't keep track of Juliet or let her make her own decisions. If they had known about Juliet was, she might have still lived.

Although the families are alike, they are also different. One way they're different is that Beatrice is mean to Tillie, but the Capulets are still somewhat kind to Juliet. Beatrice was mean to Tillie by not supporting her with the science fair and killing the bunny. The only nice thing she did was let Tillie go to the science fair. The Capulets just want Juliet to get married, which is a kind act because it will help her future. Beatrice is harming Tillie's future more than helping. Another way they're different is that the daughters are pursuing totally different passions. Tillie is going after science and education, while Juliet goes after what she thinks is true love. This shows that Tillie actually cares for her future rather than throwing it away over a guy.

At a glance, the families seem very different, being from different time periods and daughters who act very different. But once you dig deeper, you find that Tillie's family and the Capulets both have some of the same issues. Both of the daughters are neglected and going after a passion of some sort, while the parents don't support them or do what's best. One main difference is that the Capulets would actually do something to benefit Juliet, while Beatrice couldn't care less. Overall, they both have some things in common, and some different.

TEOGROMITMM Act 1

I like the play The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds so far. It's very interesting to read about Tillie's life. Most of it wasn't like my life, but a few things were similar.

One way I can relate to this play is that I'm pretty shy like Tillie. Tillie stays quiet and just does her work and stays out of everybody's way. That is a lot like me. I don't talk too much or speak out. I like to stay to myself. All Tillie asks for is to go to school, and I don't ask for much either. Another way I can relate to the play is that I'm pretty smart and do best in one particular subject. Tillie is very smart and is great at science, while I'm good at math. The only other connection I have is that I have an older sister also. Overall, not much in my life is similar to the play. Tillie is constantly put down and not supported by her family. Mine have always supported me. Although we're very different, there are still some similarities.

Romeo Development Essay

In the beginning, Romeo is depressed and doesn't think there is any point to life. He shuts himself in his room and closes all of the windows, trapped in the dark. It's not until he meets Juliet that Romeo seems to find someone worth living life for again. To Romeo, it seems like the world has come alive and is great again. They can't stay apart and are desperately in love. Instead of depressed, Romeo turns hopeful and full of life. Romeo and Juliet never think it's going to end, until Romeo kills Tybalt. Romeo can't control his anger and kills Tybalt after Tybalt kills Mercutio. This shows Romeo's other side, and it changes Romeo and Juliet's relationship. Romeo is filled with despair instead of love, and all the way up until he dies.

Romeo's traits and emotions are like a hill: starting low, reaching a peak, and coming back down again. This is also somewhat true for his interactions with other characters. Romeo is mostly kind and polite all of the time. But once he kills Tybalt, Romeo is more easily agitated and angry. He got into arguments and even killed Paris. Romeo's interactions before meeting Juliet were polite but distant. Once he met Juliet, Romeo became sweet and loving. It brought out the best in him.

Romeo matures so much from the beginning of the play to the end. At first he is naïve and distraught over some girl he wasn't even in love with. For him it felt like the end of the world. When Juliet came into the picture, Romeo grew immensely. He knew what it was like to love and what he was willing to do for love. Romeo also made big decisions such as getting married, although he wouldn't think twice about marrying Juliet. Before Romeo kills himself, he understands what he's doing and why he must. This shows a leap in maturity from the beginning to the end.
