I think that Seymour is like Holden. They both seem to have their own ideas of who they want to be and how to live their life, even though it might not be acceptable. Both of them also aren't the sanest. Seymour is diagnosed insane, and Holden was depressed and very energetic. He also ended up in a mental hospital. Seymour must have also been depressed to kill himself. They're also both nice to little kids. Holden was nice to Phoebe, and loved her a lot. Seymour was nice to Sybil and went swimming with her. They also both lie quite a bit. Holden loves to lie, and does it all of the time. Seymour lied to Sybil, but also spoke his opinion on many things, making Muriel and her mother worry.
I think that Sybil is like Phoebe. They both don't care that Holden or Seymour are not quite right. Phoebe loves Holden a lot and was willing to go across the country with him. She also believed what Holden told her. Sybil believed Seymour's story about the bananafish and also was very excited to play and swim with Seymour. They also have similar personalities, being independent at a young age, doing whatever they want (reasonably).
I think that Muriel is like Sally. They both stick with the people they like, even if they don't quite understand them. Muriel doesn't really understand Seymour or what he's going through. Seymour and Muriel also don't seem to fit together. They are very different. Sally is a lot like that because she doesn't understand Holden's personality or actions. They're also alike because Holden and Sally talked about running away, but Seymour and Muriel actually did, driving to Florida.
